- We’ve never heard of this road
- Kaelen recognizes the area
- We encounter some travelers on the road
- Some kind of Trader who trades furs between the Ostmen tribes
- Kerlan is not very popular
- Don’t talk about the shamans without respect
- Shamans have strange powers? They see you when you talk about them
- They can do strange magic, pass through trees, etc
- A storm is coming later in the week
- We should prepare presents for when we visit people
- Night falls, time to rest
- Barney casts Tiny Hut
- Jørgen dreams of some weird shit
- Cold hard stone on his knees as he kneels
- Its cold, very cold (and windy)
- “He” is there, a figure whos face is illuminated by moon but still cant make out features
- Jørgen’s hands clasp themselves together, and in a voice like the autumn wind
- “Whose flesh is your flesh?”
- Jørgen sends a message to Vertan warning him about danger (and not to mention the key)
- We continue down the road
- We arrive at a village / farm
- This is Kerlan’s Crossing, its about 6-8 shacks concentrated together with some kind of tavern
- we meet Orguian
- Theres a small road where the Ostmen trader comes from
- There was a group of Ostmen who came through 5 years ago
- We finally enter the Tavern, Orguian introduces us
- The town has a barn with an old basement
- We head to the basement, theres a smell of musty grain being stored for the winter
- Seems like a hastily (but well built) basement
- Some full armed Ostmen came by to buy iron nails a few months ago (maybe to build the seige weapons)
- One of the shelves has bricks behind it and there are weird circular patches in the brickwork
- We open it up and smell something rotting
- A hand, shaking, stripped of flesh reaches out
- The corpse is just a torso, up; it looks to be wearing some kind of uniform
- Its eyes are hollow and its skins are shrunken
- We ask it “What is the Crimson Entity”
- It blinks, “He is our champion, he will save us, he will slay The Betrayer in Gold and you do not even know”
- We ask it “Who are you”
- “Yuthar of the Legion of Roses”
- We ask it about “The Eclipse Key and the Book”
- “Why are you here”
- “Because he wanted to know and it was punishment”
- “How did the betrayer in gold betray you”
- “He sought dominion over all beneath the sun”
- “What is everything you know about the Crimson Entity, the gold betrayer, the darkness entity and the moon god”
- “That feels like more than ona question”
- “The Crimson entity is god, he will lead us itno freedom, into a new age, etneral dusk. The Golden Betrayer, he wishes dominion over this land that is rightfully under our crimon lord. The darkness I know nothing of, I knwo nothing of the things that claw at the corners. The moon, what is there to say of it, protect against those things at the corners”
- They all had similar uniforms
- The bricks on the edge of the recesses were original to the basement
- There’s a set of Elvish writing over the top middle one “A traitors rest always questioning, never answer”
- Kaelen heads up to the Abbey of St. Beltramus
- The abbot is Lysander (a stick in the mud among stick in the muds)
- Kaelen warns the guards of the oncoming storm
- Heads back down
- Jorgen plants the ashes and when hes done, sees a seed planted upon the site
- They cant chase down who put the seed
- We take a long rest in the village
- The rain starts
- In the basement, Jørgen sleeps again
- He takes a deep breath in and awakens in the mountain, green hills splay out
- A flock is behind him but there is a lost lamb who gets lost and doesnt’ come back
- It should stay witht he flock, its safer
- His father brings the sheep back unwillingly
- He awakens in another memory as a warrior on a raining battlefield
- A deserter is speared nearby on his own spear.
- Why did the deserter run? It was more dangerous, stay with the flock
- The chainlink in Altaeum’s bag starts glowing and its hot
- As Altaeum steps out, the rain is torrential
- In the rain, the chainlink begins to melt (like mercury) into the dirt
- Altaeum sees a figure step out of the rain. Its the one who tried to chain him?
- “Mortal, fear not, we do not wish to kill you”
- Altaeum asks why the knight tried to kill him in the Land of Sin and Cobble
- “You were seeking, you are caught up in things you do not understand”
- The knight whats to take Altaeum away “what is death to a being like you”
- Altaeum asks why the rest of the party cant come along
- “Its best, the less they know, the less chance they have to serve time”
- Altaeum wouldn’t be able to come back, he would have to remove something from is flesh so he could eventually return
- Altaeum has to serve time?
- Altaeum is not meant to be here?
- Altaeum might also be an undead? He came back but couldn’t find his family
- There was a deal of some kind
- Altaeum was promised something but it wasn’t kept, now the knight wants to take him
- The knight mentions “The Eyes”?
- The knight seems to be speaking to someone
- Soren casts light on a rock and throws it at the knight, the party sees that the knight seems to be spectral
- Altaeum refuses to go, the knight attacks us
- A wizard wearing slate gray appears
- Jorgen hears voices speaking to him, saying “Your flesh is mine”
- He starts attacking Altaeum trying to get the thing from his flesh
- He dies
- We kill a few people, Binder grabs the blue wizard, throws a chained sword at the ground and then retreats into a pool of quicksilver
- The rain continues
