- Altaeum attempts to draw The Black Door (hoping that the Knight and the Wizard aren’t here this time)
- Altaeum enters the Land of Sin and Cobble
- The head the statue is holding is gone?
- This is the same room as the las time
- Kaelen enters and there’s a heaviness in the air. His hand itches terribly. He stays near the entrance
- Very sad & lonely (brooding)
- The starting location might be determined by the size of the door??
- Larger doors is the big canyon/ravine place
- Smaller door is weird room
- Altaeum sprints down back to where they were
- They pass the place with the Meazel and find that its corpse is missing
- He talks to a portrait, asking about the deal that was made and what exactly the details of the deal were
- There was no magic left in the portrait?
- The enity was ignoring Altaeum??
- The enter another room, the big room / plaza place with evidence of people camping here
- Theres burnt out torches?
- The equipment is still here
- The bedding is very soft, its cashmere soft (but Altaeum is broke and never touched cashmere)
- Above the left doorway is a Frieze of a person who is acting weird(?) goofy?
- To the right is a smashed doorframe left in rubble
- The doorway forward was smashed but the path forward is forboding? Even to Altaeum
- Some of the rocks are made of a different rock, a shiny almost black glass that the statue was made out of
- Kaelen hears something echo out “Shiny?”
- A hand reaches out from the darkness and beckons Kaelen forward
- The hand looks Meazel esque
- “They have hyperfixations” -Pierce
- Kaelen lights their weapon (Rite of Dawn)
- Its easier to breathe
- Something is whispering from the darkness
- Its Kaelen’s good friend, it invites Kaelen to come over and give them something shiny
- He begins to take his gauntlet off his itchy hand
- Kaelen takes gold from his pocket and drops and gold (25) from his pocket
- Kaelen becomes aware of himself again and doesn’t know where he is
- He hears a voice asking him to put his scythe away
- He doesn’t, and gets told that this place is not for him
- This place is for those who seek
- Kaelen has not opened his eyes, so he will not receive an answer
- Seems to know who Beltramus is
- Is not afraid of him who seems to understand the world?
- Is on the path to knowledge
- To the Meazels, is “the one who survives”
- Kaelen was chosen and picked by another???He has a purpose to fulfill which means he won’t be killed
- He agrees to turn off his scythe if the person answers a question: “What was the land beyond the door I entered”
- “This is a lost land, a land that that wsa buried but one that will reign victorious over flesh, steel and light”
- Kaelen turns off his scythe and leaves The Black Door following lights they summoned
- Outside, Barney is crying loudly (about Jørgen)
- Altaeum is still in the large plaza and yells loudly asking for help and offering to help. They’re grateful for the help they’ve gotten so far?
- They get a paper with a single phrase “Go which way you are carried”
- They confidently stride to the front door and get proven wrong by a glyph that threatens to explore
- They send their echo knight ahead, a gylph explodes beneath with moonlight
- Altaeum heads back and finds the lights that led Kaelen out and follows them back to the voice
- Altaeum asks why the Knights of the Moon can reach our realm and confirms that he’s allowed to kill them. Apparently he’s the only one that is allowed to?
- Altaeum is a seeker? Answers cannot be given to him because he must seek out the answers on his own
- The Red Sun rises
- Barney feels feverish
- Soren feels angry and they’re happy that they’re angry
- The prophesized rain has vanished, its hot and muggy
- Kaelen’s hand feels better (especially since they left the Land of Sin and Cobble)
- The Peasants are mad (this is all Kaelen’s fault) and they think we turned the sun red
- They mention a song about the red swordman that mentions The Red Sun
- A mysterious red swordman saves towns but ultimately succumbs to wounds\
- Barney has never heard of a red sun in conjunction with the story
- The mysterious swordsman dies and stains the sun red
- The party heads up to the Abbey of St. Beltramus
- We meet some monks who think The Red Sun is a sign to go kill Ostmen
- We head inside the Abbey to go meet Lysander
- The pews inside have been pushed aside to create a war room
- Kaelen might be homophobic and sexist 🪕
- They do ethnic cleansing(?)
- Lysander sends us to investigate a weird gathering of Ostmen
- We ride out, and we notice that the sun isn’t moving
- Ahead is a movement and stamping of feet
- In a clearing ahead (we later learned this is Kerlan’s Last Stand) are a large number of figures
- Kaelen gets turned invisible and sneaks up
- its a war camp
- There’s an Ost religious prayer (singing)
- IIt seems different than usual
- It is a prayer to their God of Blood (The Red Sun) explaining how they shall bleed for him (Ost Pagan Gods)
- Very fatalistic??
- There is an Ostman who is significantly taller than the rest
- “is he horny” -pierce
- This one is waring tattered cloth and wielding something large and wrapped in cloth
- Something with a large head, like a hammer
- They have warpaint and no armor (armor is for weaklings)
- There is a commotion at the center of camp yelling and screaming(?)
- Kaelen climbs a tree (badly)
- One large empty stone bowl in the center of camp (with stones around it)
- Seems to be resting on roots that are going out toward the tree line
- The screaming came from people being dragged toward the stone bowl
- They also seem to be Ostmen
- Granite stone
- It is stained with brownish residue
- Kaelen tries to remember stuff
- Events like this are uncommon (even though there are many stories)
- Having such a large gathering is also uncommon for the Ostmen
- Usually they bleed you on the ground (allegedly) and then bury your body under a tree
- The implication is that the Ost don’t do this kind of sacrifice this often
- An old man is dragged to the bowl and gets killed
- Kaelen leaves and heads back to the party
- We discuss a possible mano y mano duel
- Kaelen has heard stories about these challenges
- Altaeum walks up and challenges the tall warrior
- The crowd forms a ring around the fight
- Kaelen Aether walks, stepping into a side plane
- The sky is white with clouds, surrounded by trees that stretch eternally skyward (but theyre in the same place as they were in the real world)
- The ground is covered in red leaves
- There are masses of people, represented by pricks of lights, little flames
- Soren slips away
- Altaeum barely manages to hit the guy and he can see through darkness
- Barney tries to cast invisibility and get away, the guy leading the ritual counterspells it
- The guy casts moonbeam on him :sadge:
- Horgar (the big guy) unwraps his weapon.
- Its kind of like a banner but overgrown with vines?
- he plunges it into the ground and enters rage
- Thorns erupt from the ground and destroy the echo (even though its an object; this is because Gordon is a bad GM)
- He multiattacks 😔
- Kaelen sees a group of people being hemmed in, the flames around (representing people) them are very weak
- The ritual leader’s flame is strong and beating to the rhythm of the song he was singing earlier
- Horgar’s flame is also very strong
- Altaeum crits on Horgar and does damage 😰
- The moonbeam lands on Barney as he continues to run
- He hears a voice telling him to flee
- Soren appears next to the ritual leader
